Food and land use system, the key to ending poverty and hunger.

SDG 1 SDG 2 SDG 13

Food and land use system require immediate change at global level. Transformation of food and land use system will play an important role in managing climate risk and contributing to sustainable development.
Land degredation and desertification threaten the food security and livelihoods of millions of people especially in drylands.
The number of people suffering from hunger and malnutrition have been steadily increasing over the years. Food security isn't just about providing food but also about improving diets.
There is need to shift towards more sustainable land use practices. This can be achieved by
Ensuring proper funding of food and land use sectors and rewarding incentives that offer nutrious and affordable food. There is also need to bring together women and indegenous people to the table. This will increase inclusivity, foster unity as well as go along way in poverty eradication.
Currently, agriculture and other land use currently account for around 24% of greenhouse gas emissions caused by human activities. There is a great need to protect natural capital by conserving our planet.
