Should we be worried! Concerned! Or feel threatened!!? Let's find out...

#climatechange #climateaction

Africa and the rest of the world is not on a good path for continuing to sustaining life. The world is facing the accelerating detrimental effects of climate change which is actually a long term change in the earth's temperatures with massive ramifications. These are majorly caused by human activities hence global warming.
So why should we care about global warming???
The earth's temperatures have risen 1.5 degrees fahrenheit over the past century and is projected to rise even more and more. Animals and plant life are struggling to adapt to these conditions for survival which is why we should be worried:- note; (if even one species go extinct,it can create a domino effect with the food chain and ( No living plants or animals=No living humans)
Rising temperatures makes the earth's oceans become warmer which causes something known as OCEAN-ACIDIFICATION which rises the acid levels of the oceans from the carbon dioxide mixing with salt water. This should be a concern because ocean acidification harms animal life and is what's causing the death of the great coral reefs which is actually a problem because about a billion people use ocean life as their main source of protein.
Since the oceans are becoming warmer, the polar ice caps are melting which has caused almost 65% of the polar ice caps to melt since 1979 which hence leads to the oceans filled with too much water in the shores leading to the coastal regions getting flooded and destroyed.
As if that's not enough, climate change has caused more frequent and intense natural disasters such as Hurricanes, floods , tornados , heatwaves and draughts and so the BIG QUESTION is How do we STOP This ⁉️

(1.) Instead of burning fossil fuels we need to convert to renewable energy such as wind and solar power which emits zero carbon emissions when operating. Energy from the sun and wind are infinite unlike fossil fuels. We will never run out of them

(2.) If we stop deforestation, not only does this reduce then amount not fossil fuels burn but there will be more plants and forests actively absorbing carbon dioxide.
(3.) If we use more reusable and renewable resources, this will reduce the amount of energy needed to create new products. It will also reduce the amount of landfill dumping that we do.
That all sound GREAT , EFFICIENT and HEALTHY ideas BUT personally, HOW CAN I HELP ??
- Right now you can drive on electric or fuel efficient cars
- You can walk or bike places
- Take public transport or If anything, ease the accelerater and make your car as efficient as possible
- Use energy efficient light bulbs (LED)
- Air dry your clothes instead of using power guzzling machines like dryers
- Turn off lights and electronics when you're not using them
- Eat less meat or no meat at all by replacing and omnivores diet with a vegan diet

- REDUCE , REUSE , RECYCLE and of course spread your knowledge and concerns about climate change.
So all along it's good to note , that although we are the problem, we can also be the solution !!

Climate change is REAL and is drastically affecting planet earth , our HOME!
