Covid Vaccines bring hope to assuage the pandemic and so does equality and accountability

#Covid-19 #WHO

After all the experiments and hustles, the Covid Vaccine is finally here which are a source of hope. However, lack of equality in supplying, pricing and distribution of vaccines are driving the world towards a "catastrophic moral failure".

The rich countries have gotten access to the vaccines and taking advantage of it as the given priority were health workers, elderly persons and those vulnerable. However, it is not right for young, rich adults to receive the vaccine before health workers. This merely proofs lack of accountability.

On the other hand, only 1 low income country received 25 doses of Covid Vaccine. Low income countries are considered more vulnerable and require equal priority just as the high income countries.

In order to overcome the pandemic, equality and accountability are the key. Manufacturers and suppliers of the vaccines should take responsibility to deliver the vaccines to WHO and not engage bilateral contracts for self interest.
