Renewable Energy and Sustainable Development

SDG 7 SDG 8 SDG 13

Renewable energy is useful energy obtained from naturally replenished sources. This includes sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves, geothermal heat and so much more. These sources contrast use of fossil fuels such as oil and gas which are not only finite but also produce greenhouse gases which affects our climate.
Rapid deployment of renewable energy and other efficient technologies result in increase in sustainable economic benefits and climate change mitigation. At least 47 nations around the world already have over 50% of electricity generated from renewable sources.
More countries should strive to promote renewable sources.
