Weather apps; and their undeniably pivotal role in environmental prediction

Various nations all round the globe, through the NDCs are making contributions locally towards tackling the climate emergency; all aligned towards the PARIS Agreement of 2015.

The climate emergency, a constituent of environmental action and activism has no exclusion to the technological advances in environmental technologies. Climate change particularly has notably had more adverse than positive impacts on global production systems. Taking tolls at highly inextricable rates, the projected impacts of climate change are seemingly likely to impact global economies and health unpredictability.

Advent of Weather technologies, significantly through weather apps provides a tool for monitoring and prediction of environmental parameters and indicators, furthermore a means of measuring impact of environmental interventions. WMO showcases a series of weather apps, designed by both technological and environmental experts all round the globe, each with distinct features and modes of prediction of weather and environmental impact.

Unique to the weather apps are their ability to make advance predictions of weather and climate variabilities; giving information to guide not only agricultural production systems but also accurate and informed environmental policy decisions. Compartible with hand held devices, weather apps are also highly valuable in valid information dissemination on weather forecasts and updates among various communities spread through out the globe.
