Plant to Power in Burkina Faso

Young Champion of the Earth from 2017, Mariama Mamane, turns water hyacinth, an invasive species, into fertilizer, bio-gas and energy.

Her pilot program prevents desertification, creates food security and converts a problem into a livelihood opportunity for people in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
