African countries mostly depend on agricultural products as their main source of income.

Agriculture to climate change

With the continuous change in climatic conditions, most farmers relying on the previous weather conditions e.g In Kenya, where seasons are expected to persist like in the months of March, April and May, long rains are always expected and short rains expected in October, November and December but due to the changing climate there is always a reverse in seasonality.
This makes it difficult for most most who practise agricultural activities to precisely know exact times of the year for suitable agricultural activities.
This can lead to effects such as:
Competition for land may increase as certain areas become climatically unsuitable for production.
Food may become more expensive as climate change mitigation efforts increase energy prices.
