How global warming is affecting the ocean and its biodiversity

#OCEANS #GLOBALWARMING
SDG 14 SDG 15

Global warming affects different aspects of the environment from the land to the air to the sea. One of the most overlooked aspect of that is the oceans. With the warming of the oceans marine mammals, corals and fish are being affected in different ways. For instance lack of breeding or the dying of the coral reefs. This affects a major food source and thus leading to scarcity and in some instances overfishing.

The ocean serves as fundamental element to climate change by serving as a a heat and carbon sink thus acting as a barrier to the intensifying effects of climate change but with the increased temperature rises in the ocean it is no longer acting as a sufficient barrier and is also being affected by climate change.

It is time to pay attention to what is happening to our oceans and take serious steps to mitigate it.
