Located along Nairobi River from the former Globe Roundabout to Kipande Road, the John Michuki Memorial Park was establish through private-public partnerships to provide a tranquil environment for friends and families to spend leisure time. The park was named after John Michuki who was a Minister for Environment to celebrate his contribution towards the restoration of the Nairobi River and environment. The beautification process involved removal of tonnes of garbage, landscaping and tree planting. The park now has floodlights, designated footpaths, footbridges and public toilets.

Growing up in the village I didn't have the problem of getting a shade or even wild fruits. In the city, life was so different as I had fun through games sometimes I had to struggle as I played and when the game is over we didn't have a place to rest because their was no shade completely. Those are our sporting spaces...
Green spaces can encourage exercise, provide spaces for socializing, decrease noise and air pollution, and improve immune function by providing exposure to beneficial microbiota. It also can help with psychological restoration

Green spaces in cities mitigate the effects of pollution and can reduce a phenomenon known as the urban heat island effect, which refers to heat trapped in built-up areas. The urban heat island effect appears in towns and cities as a result of human activity.
