Technological inventions pioneered by crisis

#CRISIS #INNOVATION
SDG 9 SDG 17

Over the years inventions have taken a long period of time before they are generally tested and accepted by the public, however in times of crisis the situation seems to be in reverse. Where innovations take half the time or less to be created and rolled out for use.

An example is the financial crisis of 2008 where use of cloud storage soared as opposed to the previous years of its existence as a the collapse of the financial market prompted it. The same applies to covid-19 as compared to other vaccines which take years to manufacture and become suitable for human use the corona vaccine was manufactured and tested within a few months making it the only vaccine to be feasible having only been produced in such a short amount of time.

We however need to move from the notion of only spearheading innovation when we are in crisis but also spearhead it when there is no crisis so we can develop as a nation into the future of more sustainability.
