Forests and Humans: A Symbiotic Relationship.

SDG 1 SDG 13 SDG 15

In developing countries, food insecurity and poverty in rural areas have been the curbing livelihoods and sustainable development. Most of the population in these areas depend on Agriculture as their source of livelihoods, which has been threatened by climate change. The forest cover has also dwindled due to frequent and uncontrolled deforestation.
There has been a symbiotic relationship between humans and forests: humans rely on forests and forests rely on humans for sustainability.
Traditionally, trees have always been a key
element of sustainability to farmers. Trees assist farms to
control soil erosion, and improve soil fertility through fallow systems. Trees also provide farmers with supplementary socio-economic benefits from fruits for food, firewood to forages.
There is need to support small holder farmers to practice agroforestry which can suppliment their income and at the same time improve forest cover for developing countries. All they need is guidance.
