Fixing the global Imbalance in access of COVID-19 Vaccines and other essential tools

#COVID-19Vaccine
SDG 3 SDG 10

Within less than 12 months after the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, several research teams rose to the challenge and developed vaccines that protect from SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. Now the challenge is to make these vaccines available to people around the world.

Out of more than 700 million Covid-19 vaccine doses administered globally, more than 87% have gone to wealthier countries, according to the WHO. Low-income countries have received just 0.2%. There remains a shocking imbalance in the global distribution of vaccines.

The issue of global imbalance in access of vaccines is set to be fixed in three major ways:
1. Closing the 19 billion USD funding gap to provide the funds needed for vaccines, diagnostics and therapeutics.
2. Countries to donate vaccines to COVAX.
3. Pull out all the stops to increase production.
