Mental Health and COVID 19

SDG 3

Being a new phenomenon, COVID 19 brought in uncertainties. As mitigation measures, governments were forced to close down business entities that worsened the economy situation in most countries. The pandemic has left majority of the population affected economically, physically and mentally. As much as the world has responded to both physical and economic issues, mental health issues have not been given much attention. The youth have been mostly affected mentally by the pandemic and its impacts. Anxiety and depression have increased since the beginning of the pandemic. If nothing is done, mental health can be a slow onset disaster that might lead to a large population using substance abuse as well as increased cases of suicide.
