Living well within the limits of our planet

SDG 12 SDG 13

Imagine a balanced world with a healthy environment.
A world powered by clean renewable energy, a world where the air is clean and pure, a world where even the tiniest of species thrive, a world where there is no more extinction of endagered species as a result of climate change. A world we can be proud of.
It is possible to create such a world if we take simple actions that everyone can be able to do at individual level.
We should all learn from nature and how it recycles everything in it. Organisms that feed upon organic remains break down and recycle the nutrients in dead plants and animals and their waste. These nutrients end up being used again by Living plants and animals. Nothing goes to waste as it all gets reused. The things we make won't just disappear especially if they are not biodegradable.
There are three essential components of environmentally responsible consumer behaviour- reduce, reuse, recycle. The goal of the 3Rs is to educate people on how to prevent excessive waste as well as limit consumption of non-renewable sources.

Reduce; the best way to manage waste is to not produce it. This can include something as simple as turning off the lights when not in use, fixing drippy faucets to avoiding disposal goods such as paper plates,cups.

Reuse; finding new use for items you thought of throwing away. Something as simple as using jars from grocery stores to keep left over food, reusing grocery bags, using reseal able containers rather than plastic bags.

Recycle;
Buying recycled products or products that can be recycled. Recycling helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions by reducing energy consumption. Using recycled materials to make new products reduces the need for virgin materials.
