7.9 Billion Trees

SDG 13 SDG 15

The theme for this year's World Earth Day is "Restore Our Earth". Earth has been in danger due to climate change for several decades as the population experience higher temperatures and extreme weather patterns.
As a global problem, countries have placed efforts that assist in mitigating climate change like reduction of burning fossil fuels and carbon taxes, which have also proving to be challenging. Tree planting is one of the easiest ways of mitigating climate change. Apart from being a natural resource, a forest is a carbon sink for the green house gases emitted from fossil fuels. Currently, the world's population is at 7.9 billion. If all citizens take action by planting at least a tree per year, we will have 7.9 billion trees, rehabilitating our planet.
