Role of women in environmental conservation

SDG 13

Women play a critical role in managing natural resources on family and community levels and are most affected by environmental degradation.
Women produce over 60% of food in developing countries.
Because of women's relationship with the environment they can be critical agents of environmental conservation, sustainable development and adaptation to climate change.
Women have launched movements demanding better protection of natural resources.
Like in Kenya we have Wangari Maathai the Nobel laureate who launched The Green Belt Movement which is an environmental, non governmental organization focused on planting of trees, environmental conservation and women's rights. Conservation of environment and resource protection can't be done without involving women in planning and training for promoting values for conservation.
