World Malaria day

Malaria caused by the parasite plasmodium is transmitted by female anopheles mosquitoes
Almost half the world’s population – 3.2 billion people – are at risk for malaria In 2016, there were 216 million cases of malaria, and almost half a million people died from malaria,(CDC,2018)
Malaria is particularly dangerous in tropical countries, especially in sub-Saharan Africa, as it mainly affects children under 5 years of age
There are various ways to protect yourself from malaria such as burying puddles of water that lead to mosquito breeding grounds, setting up bed nets, slashing grass and bushes around the habitat.
