Based on my readings and analysis of scholarships on a wide variety of peacekeeping activities, I have come to understand that the recognition of past peace-keeping flaws alone will not increase the chances of success. Rather, the understanding of the cultural norms of the host nation is an added value. The representative of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines also warned against universalizing human rights components in a way that ignores local cultures and traditions — threatening national peace efforts — and stressed the need to respect the sovereignty, political independence and territorial integrity of the host country.
