Kihamba system, the most common gardening technology in CHAGA Land.

Conservation of environment starts from tribal level. People have to be trained on environmental conservation.

Days back chaga tribe in Tanzania mount kilimanjaro slopes introduced kihamba system for conservation purpose.

Kihamba system involves planting trees and crops in order to conserve environment.

Some trees has higher ability in saving water and provide them to crops ind dry season.

Some trees provide pesticides to the soil and make crops safe against pests and other diseases like teminies.

NB: Trees planted in this system has fibrous root which to large extent avoids competation of resources like water and other minerals in the soil.
