Coral reefs in the dangaer of extinction

SDG 14 SDG 15 SDG 17

Coral reefs provide an important ecosystem for life underwater, protect coastal areas by reducing the power of waves hitting the coast, and provide a crucial source of income for millions of people, Coral reefs teem with diverse life. Thousands of species can be found living on one reef ( according to Flora and fauna international (FFI)).

According to the report, which follows on from an earlier study on the health of the world's coral reefs, more than 90 percent of reefs will be threatened by 2030 and nearly all reefs will be at risk by 2050 unless action is taken now to reduce the threats.

In Tanzania the Coral reefs provides a lot to the people, such as areas for recreation in the costal areas, provide us with the building materials, provide raw materials to the industries just few to mention.
